Job Description

Reporting to the CEO, the Accounting & Finance Financial Manager strongly contributes to ensuring the financial health of the company. Working closely with the CEO, the Financial Manager is expected to play a very active role in strengthening the financial foundations of Shaft and preparing the company to scale up. The Financial Manager is deemed to be part of the senior leadership team of Shaft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure an effective accounting system is in place, reflecting a thorough understanding of the business aspirations and requirements of Shaft.
  • Ensure a suitable ERP system connecting sales & procurement to finance is installed and fully operational.
  • Ensure proper governance measures are in place including administration and financial management processes, controls and systems and others.
  • Supervise a team of accountants and potentially other team members.
  • Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and planning reports and assist the CEO and the executive team in meeting the company’s financial objectives.
  • Set essential key performance indicators (“KPIs”) with the CEO to set financial performance targets for the company and track performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure accurate and detailed financial statements, including monthly segmented financial performance by product/services and by markets, are produced in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that cash flow is sufficient to meet operational and investment needs by taking appropriate actions.
  • Maintain relationships with banks and other stakeholders such as suppliers and customers.
  • Ensure compliance of financial processes and reporting with legal requirements.
  • Prepare presentations to the executive team / Board of Shaft (under formation).
  • Recommend appropriate initiatives, and develop supporting financial models, that will lead to higher profitability and return to Shaft owners.
  • More generally assist the CEO and the executive team in all financial and relevant strategic decisions.

Required qualifications and skills

  • Minimum BA in business with a major in accounting. CPA is a definite plus 
  • Working knowledge of relevant Lebanese business law including taxation
  • Minimum 7-year experience in an equivalent role and 15-year experience in accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Superior knowledge of accounting packages and ERP systems
  • Ability to work well in a team and upskill junior accountants.
  • Presentation skills.
